“Begin by reckoning God…”

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    “To grasp the reality and order of being in its Science, you must begin by reckoning God as the divine Principle of all that really is.” (S&H 275:10-11)

    If I want to see all things perfectly, as God created them, then I must always begin by “esteeming, accounting, reputing” (reckoning) God as the divine Principle, the only Source and Creator, of all that really is. If I don’t do this, then there is a reckoning on my part — an account or price to pay — until I turn my thought back to God and begin aright.

    When doing a watch, I often find it helpful to begin with this reckoning: “…divine Principle, Love, underlying, overlying, and encompassing all true being.” (S&H 496:18)
