“In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Lord, saying,
I beseech thee, O Lord, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.” II Kings 20
To me Isaiah had to rouse Hezekiah. Once Hezekiah was shaken he took the next step and turned to God, once the thought changed the healing took place. This reminded me of a letter from Mrs. Eddy on July 7, 1896, “My dear Mr. Packard, and Student; You are held by a mesmeric belief to the thought that you cannot demonstrate Christian Science. Demand of yourself to awake from this glamour and know it is false and a ‘liar from the beginning.’ Do you think that divine Love has said ‘seek, and ye shall find’ and ‘seek ye first the kingdom of God, and [His] righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you,’ and then fail to fulfill His Word? Your faith is less than was his of old who said, ‘Because Thou canst, thou wilt make me whole.’ Rouse yourself from this spell of mesmerism and by no means return to your material pursuits. They cannot remedy your spiritual need but will add to it. Take God, Good, at His word and follow the teachings of my books, and I promise you that you can demonstrate what they teach. … Let me hear from you again after you obey my orders and heal the sick and cast out the evils in your own mind.” from Mary Baker Eddy: Christian Healer, By Yvonne Caché von Fettweis and Robert Townsend Warneck, Amplified Edition, page 398
“ROUSE: To wake from sleep or repose. To excite to thought or action from a state of idleness, languor, stupidity or inattention. To put into action; to agitate.” Webster’s 1828
