Such a wonderful lesson this week! I love the story of Naaman. He wanted some fantastical and materialistic impressive show of power. He had imagined the way in which he should be healed. So far had his own imagination carried him that he didn’t at first recognise the Divine Healing standing right in front of him! It was such a humble direction that he was given – wash. Yet this at first enraged him with its simplicity, and caused him to turn from Truth. A wonderful practitioner here in Australia taught me “not to outline”, meaning not to imagine how my prayer would be manifested. To pray humbly to the Father and unreservedly trust Him to answer the best outcome for all involved; in the way and time of His own choosing. Thy will be done! To know the fulfillment of the blessing before it even came into material being; whilst at the same time refraining from outlining or imagining how the blessing would look, present or feel. It took me many years to give up my own outlining, quite a battle to master self-will; a self-will that only served to delay my own blessing! Today I am very grateful for this wise teaching of “not outlining”. Giving up one’s own imaginings allows us to absorb “the little book” without grumbling over its digestion. This in turn allows Truth to eclipse our own conceptions and thinking to the point that the healing occurs stunningly, immediately and more powerfully than we could have ever imagined or outlined in our own thought. Naaman’s healing was so immediate and complete that “his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child”. This would most certainly have been a far better healing than he as a leper could ever have outlined or imagined. This is “Thy will be done”. I am so grateful to God; to Jesus; to Mary Baker Eddy; to all our early workers down to the present day for teaching us how to practice Christian healing; Christian Science – Gods healing presence and power. I love Mrs Eddy’s quote “The promises will be fulfilled. The time for the reappearing of the divine healing is throughout all time; and whosoever layeth his earthly all on the altar of divine Science, drinketh of Christ’s cup now, and is endued with the spirit and power of Christian healing”.
