Let us not offend our beneficent God

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.” (Proverbs 15:8)

In looking up this citation in the Amplified Bible this reference came up,

“What are your multiplied sacrifices to Me [without your repentance]?” Says the LORD. “I have had enough of [your] burnt offerings of rams And the fat of well-fed cattle [without your obedience]; And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls or lambs or goats [offered without repentance]. (Is 1:11)

repentance-Real penitence; sorrow or deep contrition for sin, as an offense and dishonor to God, a violation of His holy law, and the basest
ingratitude towards a Being of infinite benevolence. Repentance is the relinquishment of any practice, from conviction that it has offended God. (Websters 1828)

upright-honest; just; not deviating from correct moral principles

The Bible, the word of God, when obeyed is our perfect guide and protection from all that would try to separate us from the love of God our Father-Mother.
