Many Thanks!!! : )

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

Thank you for all the wonderful treasures in the January 2024 Plainfield Independent Newsletter. The item from Bicknell Young, on the first page, regarding protecting your thinking, your divine consciousness, explains the basis of the success of the Christian Science Wartime workers during WWII, and how what they did was so healing and transforming in the lives of those they came in contact with. The Wartime Committee’s ruling was that there be no proselytizing, but the name Christian Science could be mentioned.

When a Rehousing Officer was “…reminded by a Scientist that, in order to do their finest work, the almoners needed to preserve a personal touch with those helped, since they gave of their thinking as well as the clothes. The officer replied, ‘It is your thinking that we want.’”
(from The Story of Christian Science Wartime Activities 1939-1946, pp. 64, 65) It is thrilling to read of the work that was done, rising to the occasion and providing exactly what was needed, many times answering what seemed impossible requests, and done with love and joy.

I am so grateful to have learned of this book from Izzy’s wonderful post on the Church’s website Bulletin Board, Oct. 5, 2023! And so grateful for everything shared by this Independent Church, for inspiration, growth, and the many reasons to glorify God!
