The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I often wondered why Jesus sent the devils into the swine. Perhaps the most helpful explanation to me is this from a loved practitioner:
When those possessed by the devils – and healed – went back to their homes, the townspeople could have thought “well, this healing is not permanent, and they could relapse back to their former state of mind.” Isn’t this what psychiatry and medicine would think. But Jesus, in his infinite wisdom, provided definite physical proof that the healing was permanent by sending the “devils” into the swine. Now all could see that these “devils” – insanity, mental instability, psychotic behavior, etc. – were forever gone from them. What a magnificent example of the power of Christian Science healing!
