Committed to thy trust

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“Keep that which is committed to thy trust.” (I Timothy) This has long been a favorite verse of mine – a simple and calming instruction from the Apostle Paul. We all have been given our own “row to hoe” so to speak, that which has been entrusted to our care and our lives are made much happier and richer when we faithfully tend to this heavenly assignment. It is of no use to think, “why my neighbor has a much more interesting job, or a more beautiful family – how I would love to be in his or her shoes.” In the meantime, you are letting what God has given you to do to become neglected and in disrepair. This type of ungrateful thinking is also in direct violation to the commandment, “Thy shalt not covet”! Yes, “keep that which is committed to thy trust” is an important rule to live by and one that will reap true contentment and joy for it is in obedience to your Father and His plan for you.
“Living stones we, each in his place,
May we be worthy such a grace,
While Truth the wide earth enlightens.” (Hymn # 176)
