Love the right things.

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    I Timothy 6
9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

“For the love of money is the root of all evil” is a very familiar phrase of absolute Truth. The second part of this verse, “which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows” I wasn’t familiar with and can see most people aren’t either because otherwise there would be less greed and more sharing. Wealth has stealth; growing up poor and after much material struggle no longer have ‘lack’ to overcome (now understanding and grateful for God’s grace!). I do have a struggle with hoarding and accumulating too many worldly things and am grateful for Lesson Sermons such as this one, to help me learn how to handle this in a Spiritual fashion with God’s direction!
