The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

It’s instructive that the translator uses the verb “sow” to describe what we are doing. The common use of the word is in agriculture, where we “sow” seeds that grow into plants – either useful food or beautiful flowers on the one hand, or weeds on the other hand.
Deep in our consciousness are seeds of thought that form the basis of our experience. That is why Mrs. Eddy encourages us to employ mental anatomy, to dig deep into our thought to see what is really there. What seeds do I allow to grow in my consciousness? Do I lust after beautiful material appearances? Do I look to human or material remedy for my daily decisions? Do I plant the seeds of limitation, envy, jealousy, greed, etc. in my thought? Or do I look through the mortal picture (planted in thought) and look to God for my sustenance and strength? Do I insist on the infinite resources of divine Love to support me? What do I have faith in?
On page 250 of Mis., Mrs. Eddy writes: “I make strong demands on love, call for active witnesses to prove it, and noble sacrifices and grand achievements as its results.” Why does she write this? Because she understood that divine Love is infinite and all power and that no other seeds should be sown in thought. We have an infinite, all powerful, loving God as our Maker. When we plant that seed in thought, it shapes and molds our life, supports us, strengthens us, so that, just as with Joseph, we experience the immortal and harmonious reality of our divine destiny. And to think, it is possible right now and right here.
