Christianity not a creed

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“Christianity as Jesus taught it was not a creed, nor a system of ceremonies, nor a special gift from a ritualistic Jehovah; but it was the demonstration of divine Love casting out error and healing the sick, not merely in the name of Christ, or Truth, but in demonstration of Truth, as must be the case in cycles of divine light.” (S&H) Look here, how Mrs. Eddy totally debunks the beliefs of old theology which make so-called religion useless and irrelevant to people. This is why so many churches are closing at a rapid rate. The teachings of Christ are anything but irrelevant but alive and vital to our very existence! Thank God for Mrs. Eddy who reveals this Truth to us! And I thank God too, for the Carpenter books who recorded how Mrs. demonstrated Truth on a daily basis so we can understand how and do likewise! Our God is real!

From Webster 1828: CREED, noun [This word seems to have been introduced by the use of the Latin credo, I believe, at the beginning of the Apostles creed or brief system of Christian faith. See creed ]
    1. A brief summary of the articles of Christian faith; a symbol; as the Apostolic creed
    2. That which is believed; any system of principles which are believed or professed; as a political creed.
No wonder the spiritual essence and its practical application to daily life is missed when Christianity is not understood and practiced as Christ Jesus lived it and Mary Baker Eddy further explained how it is a way of life. Thanks for all the examples that show us how NOT to just profess but live this reality.
