Learned the most about CS from…

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I totally agree with what Mrs Singleterry said recently about learning the most about Christian Science from her practitioner. I had a wonderful practitioner when I was growing up. She seems to have been similar to Mrs Evans in many ways. From somewhere, and perhaps from this wonderful woman, I remember the saying “One teaches by healing and one heals by teaching.” This saying implies that teaching and healing should go hand in hand. If you think about it, Jesus both taught and healed. This is what attracted me to Plainfield. I’m not in this for the quick fix I’m in it to increase my understanding of God. There are good practitioners out there who I can call, get healed and write a check to, but what have I gain in my understanding of God?!? This is why Plainfield is such a gem. The practitioners at Plainfield are willing to both heal and teach. Modern technology allows much of this teaching to be on the web multiplying its reach. This church and its practitioners gets the importance of both! I am grateful to have found this church.
