look towards God

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“If the disciple is advancing spiritually, he is striving to enter in. He constantly turns away from material sense, and looks towards the imperishable things of Spirit. If honest, he will be in earnest from the start, and gain a little each day in the right direction, till at last he finishes his course with joy.” Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy p. 21

    constantly: steadily; invariably; continually; perseveringly.

On Sunday we discussed the importance of praying evening, morning and noon, unceasing prayer, and to saturate ourselves in the Truth, let it go deep within your being.

    saturate
a : to fill completely with something that permeates or pervades

Two times already this week I came across advertisements encouraging the reader to saturate self in the material world. It was so clear to me that we have a choice. To constantly, “turn away from material sense” and look, “towards the imperishable things of Spirit” or take in material sense and turn away from God. I was so grateful to be reminded of how important it is to saturate ourselves in the word of God!

Mrs. Eddy tells us, “Beloved Christian Scientists, keep your minds so filled with Truth and Love, that sin, disease, and death cannot enter them. It is plain that nothing can be added to the mind already full. There is no door through which evil can enter, and no space for evil to fill in a mind filled with goodness. Good thoughts are an impervious armor; clad therewith you are completely shielded from the attacks of error of every sort. And not only yourselves are safe, but all whom your thoughts rest upon are thereby benefited.” Miscellany 210
