Reply To: Having more faith in Truth than in error

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

Mrs. Eddy states we can come to God through Science or suffering. Fortunately what appears to be suffering when we choose Science gives us “the constant pressure of the apostolic command to come out from the material world and be separate.” S&H 451:2

S&H citation 7. 133 : 8-15
In Egypt, it was Mind which saved the Israelites from belief in the plagues. In the wilderness, streams flowed from the rock, and manna fell from the sky. The Israelites looked upon the brazen serpent, and straightway believed that they were healed of the poisonous stings of vipers. In national prosperity, miracles attended the successes of the Hebrews; but when they departed from the true idea, their demoralization began.

This citation struck me at how well the Israelites responded to the ‘pressure’ of slavery which forced them to demonstrate God’s All-ness. After God and His appointed prophet Moses graciously led them out of Egypt, it seems like the ‘freedom’ to choose their path led to much complaining and rebellion towards their liberators. The Israelites should have joined them gratefully to “renounce aggression, oppression and the pride of power.” S&H 451:4

Helps me to realize why it is mentioned so often during our classes at Plainfield, to be grateful. This something I need to do better, be grateful for having come this far even if the going appears difficult at times because it sure beats the bondage I was in before Christian Science was introduced to me and there was NO hope of ever escaping!!

Love is the liberator.
