I was extremely excited to see the Bible Study for today when it got posted with the tile of “Emmanuel, God with Us.”

At last weeks Roundtable was mentioned what I believe to be Mary Baker Eddy’s last revision to Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures on p. 442 of being a “law to yourself.” In Revelation 12:5 is stated a “rod of iron” which several reliable sources from loyal students of Mrs. Eddy saying it is the “Church Manual.” That Sunday evening I read for the first time the “Important Introduction” to “Story of the Church Manual” by Alice Orgain and found on page 8 those preceding items integrated into one. [Brackets denote Mrs. Orgain’s inserted comments within Mrs. Eddy’s quotes]

“My. 229:24-2 next page (it will be noted also that the Manual was presented only to those who had not attained the height of obeying the “Ten Commandments and … Christ’s Sermon on the Mount,” My.229;21-22). Mrs. Eddy’s sad lament was finally gladdened to the “hearing ear” and “seeing eye” in 1908- just thirteen years later- when she gave the Field her statement in Science and Health, page 442:30-32 “Christian Scientists, be a law to yourselves [thus releasing each consciousness to Immanuel government- the God within] that mental malpractice cannot harm you either when asleep or when awake.”
