"Find the footsteps of Truth"

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“One’s aim, a point beyond faith, should be to find the footsteps of Truth, the way to health and holiness.” (S&H 241:23)

In S&H p.115:26, Mrs. Eddy lists the moral (transitional) qualities where evil beliefs are disappearing, and faith is followed by meekness in that list. I realized this morning that meekness is the point beyond faith that is required of me. This is the only way I can “find the footsteps of Truth” –– to humbly ask, and follow, God’s guidance every moment. Even though a fellow-member (and Mrs. Eddy) has said often that humility and meekness are vital for spiritual progress, this was a needed awakening for me this morning. A long time ago, someone told me to take “one day at a time, and if I couldn’t do that, then to take one hour at a time, and if I couldn’t do that, then take one minute at a time.” I am now going to work on taking that one footstep at a time, one moment at a time, in turning to God.
“O Master, let me walk with thee in lowly path of service free;…” (Hymn 234)
Thank you, Lesson-writer, for this beautiful and helpful Lesson-Sermon.
