…to seek and to save that which was lost

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    5. Luke 19 : 10 (the Son)
10 …the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

I was thinking about this verse today, and how lost I felt before coming to Plainfield. It occurred to me the supposed “stages of grief” are an opposite process to that which happened to me since becoming a member here, and learning Christian Science. After all, I haven’t lost something or someone I thought I had, rather I’ve been given back all that I was mesmerized to think I didn’t deserve, could never have, or didn’t exist: God’s love, and the place and purpose He created me for.

    The “stages of grief”:

    1. Denial
    2. Anger
    3. Bargaining
    4. Depression
    5. Acceptance

    What I have experienced here:

    1. Amazed (and at first, confused!) that I am accepted!
    2. Increasing love for this church, and its mission.
    3. Willingness to do whatever I feel God is asking me to do, without stipulations.
    4. Finding such joy and purpose in being the expression of God, to the degree I am able.
    5. Gratitude to God for unfolding new goodness constantly – instead of a static, unending sense of loss, this wonderful, dynamic sense of ceaseless abundance!

I am so grateful for God, Christian Science, and this church! Thank you!
