The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I used to wonder what point Jesus was making when he told Peter that “If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.” Peter had just told Jesus that he would not allow Jesus to wash his feet.

Here, Jesus was expressing great and humble love toward his disciples. He was washing them, cleansing them. We have spoken many times of the importance of feeling God’s love for us as a requisite for our being able to love others. If I don’t allow myself to feel God’s love, I am shutting God out. Why? Because God IS Love. Love is the power that governs the universe. It is the power that heals. Without Love, life is empty.

Also, if I don’t allow the Christ message to wash me clean, I am shutting God out. I need to allow the Christ to destroy incarnate error wherever it may be. This is the result of divine Love. That’s why, as God’s reflection, it is what we should be doing for one another.

It’s wonderful how this gives purpose to life when you let the Christ get all the personal ambition out of the way.


Love is the liberator.
