The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

The sentence in the Bible citation goes on to give us some clues as to what is really at work to create the hidden things of dishonesty: “not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully;”

Mrs. Eddy tells us that one of the requirements for practicing Christian Science is unselfed love. Selfishness is the downfall of every Christian. Those who strive to promote themselves, or to use Christian Science for personal gain or benefit, are “handling the word of God deceitfully.” It can’t work, because selfishness is a belief in many human minds, a belief that good is not infinite, and that it is material, not spiritual. This is all self-deception, handling the word of God deceitfully, which is ultimately dishonest for a Christian. The standard of Christian Science, is “perfect God and perfect man” (S&H, 259), which excludes selfishness.

There is nothing more liberating than to take this truth to heart, burn out the darkness of selfishness, and walk in the light.

Love is the liberator.
