Reply To: Atonement as Alignment

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I also thank you for this post.

“By exposing myself continually to the polar magnet of the Word, I cannot help but to align all of my misaligned “mortal feelings, motives, affections, joys, and sorrows” with their immortal counterparts (SH 587:23-24).”

“mortal feelings, motives, affections, joys, and sorrows” are Mrs. Eddy’s definition for “Heart” in S&H. This led me to Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” And my favorite from James 4:8: “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.”

We are constantly being pulled in one direction or another, and it is always thinking of God’s will that keeps us or gets us back on course. I love the idea of the “polar magnet of the Word”–the voice of God being truly the ultimate attraction.

Love is the liberator.
