Reply To: Present and Represent the Ever-Present

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

You are raising a really good point, but this would be more helpful, if you stuck with the word “present” as a verb, not an adjective. When Mrs. Eddy wrote that Jesus..presented Christ, that means that he introduced Christ to the world. And when she describes his struggle as wanting “not the flesh, but the Spirit, be represented in me,” that means that he wanted to illustrate the Christ by his example. He “presented” Christ to the world by “re-presenting” that Christ in word and deed every day of his earthly life. And that is why his example is totally practical for each of us.
Thank you for raising this very important point.
