Reply To: To obey is better than sacrifice…

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

Thanks for the post and for the Lessons many reminders about obedience… Unless we are complying or practicing the rule or law we cannot say we are obeying it!

Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
OBEY other definitions:
To submit to: To be submissive; to yield without murmuring.
To yield to: To surrender
To comply to: To fulfil; to perfect or carry into effect; to complete; to perform or execute;
Divine Mind rightly demands man’s entire obedience, affection, and strength. No reservation is made for any lesser loyalty. Obedience to Truth gives man power and strength. Submission to error superinduces loss of power.
SH vii: 17-20
Ignorance of God is no longer the steppingstone to faith. The only guarantee of obedience is a right apprehension of Him whom to know aright is Life eternal.
SH 20: 14-23
Jesus bore our infirmities; he knew the error of mortal belief, and “with his stripes [the rejection of error] we are healed.”
How wise to obey (practice) what Christ Jesus did….it was His stripes, the rejection of error that healed...Hence our instruction to persistently and as earnestly as possible reject the errors that tempt us in varying cloaks.We are not to accept the lies as ours and then try to use the truth to “fight” them.

he swerved not, well knowing that to obey the divine order and trust God, saves retracing and traversing anew the path from sin to holiness.
