A very different starting point

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

The readings in Science and Health start out, “Jesus of Nazareth taught and demonstrated man’s oneness with the Father…”

This statement does not say, “his” oneness with the Father, but man’s. That’s us! That’s a huge departure, a very different starting point from old theology that would have Jesus be one with God, but have us be separate from God…and very far from emulating Jesus! And yet, we are all truly one with God, and through Science, now available to all through Mary Baker Eddy’s discovery, we have the tools for following in Jesus’ footsteps, as he instructed us to do.

It is a shame that old theology does not stress our oneness with God, when it is such a simple and beautiful fact of our being that can be practically demonstrated and proven every day through healing of all types of problems. So with this different starting point, we must step up to the plate and prove it. How tremendous it is to know that we–and every child of God–are one with the Father. I must remind myself more often how radical and freeing Mrs. Eddy’s discovery of Christian Science truly is!
