Admit the common hypothesis that food is the nutriment of life……

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

The above section 8 of our Lesson this week is also very important to me, section 8, 9, and 10 are chock full of instruction to me and a constant reminder that “dieting” and watching obsessively what I’m eating or counting calories is not a panacea for staying healthy or loosing the extra pounds. The diet industry is almost at par with the pharmaceutical, they are constantly pounding the public with need to keep healthy via some “miracle” diet or pill. The “smoothie” obsession, as I call it, had me for a while ingesting the most vile concoctions and combinations of raw vegetables, juices, grains, while trying to convince myself that it tasted good, IT DID NOT!! I’m very thankful that through the teaching of Christian Science I can follow a really healthy way of eating and not be swayed by fads that can later be found to be harmful or not really that great tasting. I’m so grateful for these Lessons and what they teach. Thanks.

Pilar, your post made me chuckle. It is amazing the treadmill of crazy ideas that are purported to be the latest and greatest good for one while breaking the first and second commandment. In The First Church of Christ Scientist and Miscellany, Mrs. Eddy calls this fashionable lunacy.

The actual quote is “Heal the sick, make spotless the blemished, raise the living dead, cast out fashionable lunacy.”

Thank you lesson writers for this lesson that guides us in recognizing and overcoming these false mortal claims.
