Arise and Go unto Your Father

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“I will arise and go to my Father, and will say to him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee…” (Luke 15) This passage is very helpful as well as revealing. I know whenever I have had a particularly difficult problem to work my way out of, it is easy to just want to vegetate in a slough of despair, so to speak. It can take a great deal of effort to rise up out of it and also to humble myself to admit there may have been some wrong doing on my part to repent of. I have found however, this process is truly the only way out. So if you ever find yourself not making any headway out of a tough situation – ask yourself these two questions? Have you really made the effort to arise and to go to your Father, even if this takes a mighty struggle at first, to overcome all those negative feelings and actions that most likely got you into the mess in the first place? And have you really turned to Him in true humility, willing to admit your mistakes and to change sometimes even the most persistent habits? The Prodigal Son found himself in quite a dark hole. It sure seemed as if there was no way to find release. And yet it was his humble willingness to arise and go to His Father that raised him up and out. Remember God’s mercy is ever-present. Arise and return unto Him.
