Be ye therefore perfect. . .

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

Matt 5:48: “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” (Lesson citation #7).

“PERFECT” – Finished, complete, consummate, not defective, having all that is requisite to its nature and kind; fully informed, completely skilled; complete in moral excellencies; manifesting perfection (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary).

Recalling the comments made in last Sunday’s Roundtable (5/30/21), regarding the fact that it is absolutely mandatory that we take responsibility for our own experiences in life, and that we never blame others for what may come our way, but rather, we should learn from each untoward experience, and thus grow further Spiritward, I found this comment from an article entitled “Perfection the Goal” to be very comforting: “Let us not be discouraged if we do not at first reach our ideal, rather let us be quickened by the example of those who have accomplished much, those who have made success but a stepping-stone to higher achievement, and failure a stimulus to more earnest endeavor” (CSS, 8/7/1902, by M.).

Thank you to all the members of the Plainfield Church whose inspiring dedication and unceasing labor for the Cause of Christian Science serve as just such an example of those who are accomplishing much, spurring others on to higher achievements, in line with Mrs. Eddy’s statement, “We are all capable of more than we do” (S & H, p. 89:20-21).
