Benefits and Grace

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I loved thinking about the following citation in our lesson this week from Psalm 68: 19. “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits.”
I looked up the definition of benefits in Webster’s 1828 Dictionary.
Benefits: An act of kindness; a favor conferred. Advantage; profit; a word of extensive use, and expressing whatever contributes to promote prosperity and personal happiness.

I was also thinking about the word Grace this week, which is also in our lesson. One of the definitions of Grace that I found in Webster’s ties in so beautifully with the citation from Psalms 68.
Grace: the free unmerited love and favor of God, the spring and source of all the BENEFITS men receive from him.

How wonderful to know that it is through God’s love and favor that we are daily filled (loaded) with kindness, prosperity, happiness, health, life, Truth, and love. “Blessed be the Lord”, our Loving Father Mother God.
