“Beware of false prophets.”

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“Beware of false prophets.” Christ Jesus, from Matthew 7 : 15-23

“Simply put, a prophet is someone chosen by God to speak for God. Their job, whatever the time period or tidings, was to accurately impart His message.” from “What is a Prophet” by Heather Adams

“The prophet of to-day beholds in the spiritual horizon the bow of promise; the demonstration of Christianity that our Master gave, is again required, and no other “sign shall be given you.” Christianity brings with it a phenomenon that will be misinterpreted by the material age in which it appears, because it is the phenomenon of Soul, and not matter, that personal sense cannot comprehend, but when spiritually discerned will be found to destroy sickness, sin and death.” From Science and Health, by Mary Baker Eddy, page 125

This week’s lesson on the need for spiritual sense alerted me that I was limiting the definition of false prophet to false church teaching. I was missing a broader interpretation to include human systems, psychology, medicine, heredity, negative or apathetic thoughts, laws of aging, etc, anything declaring or predicting (as if they were God) that man is material and limited. It gave me renewed clarity of what Jesus is commanding.
