Bible Study, "Contend for the Faith"

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I am very grateful for the Bible Studies we have in this church. Last Sat, June 1st, the topic was “Contend for the Faith.” It was on the book of Jude, Psalm 57, and the Doxology. The KJV Bible Dictionary says, “Jude wishes to rouse his ‘beloved’ to a sense of their danger, and also to help them through it by bidding them keep close to the ‘faith once committed to the saints.’”

In the Study, it was cautioned to not deny, but acknowledge and understand “the only Lord God and Jesus Christ” and also Mary Baker Eddy in her place, and as revealing and explaining the Comforter, which was promised by Christ Jesus. Truth cannot be humanized.

Thank you so much for this very well researched subject; have listened to this class several times! Thanks for the warnings to beware of false teachers, then and now, and to individually strive to stay in the Spirit and the love of God. Matthew Henry says in his Bible Commentary, “Nothing is done to purpose, in religion, unless it is done with the heart.” Love the hymns that were shared, #341, and our Doxology, #1; praise be to God in the highest!
