Cease ye from man!

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?” (Isaiah)
The word “accounted” means “esteemed, considered, regarded, valued.” I feel this is a good check – to ask myself how much time and consideration do I give to this so-called mortal self? Am I always concerned about how it is feeling? Looking? Sleeping? How “blood” relations are doing? Do I worry about diet, exercise, beliefs of aging etc.? This instruction from Isaiah tells me to stop all this – cease ye!! How much infinitely better to dwell upon my spiritual nature, to be thinking about the things of God, to be knowing I am His perfect reflection, to know we are all His children, God is the one and only Creator, to know the government is on His shoulders, to know I am “ageless, diseaseless and deathless”… The Bible and Science and Health gives us so many wonderful Truths to identify myself with and in so doing I am enriching and expanding the kingdom of God within me – rather than dreary, destructive mortal mind fussing about.
“Spirit is God, and man is his image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.”! S&H page 468)
