Divine – divination

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    1 Samuel 28:8
    Saul asked the familiar spirit (medium/sorcerer) at Endor “I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring him up, whom I shall name unto thee.”

    According to the Cambridge Dictionary, the word ‘divination’ means
    the skill or act of saying or discovering what will happen in the future.

    What a massacre of true meaning of the words ‘Divine’ and ‘divination’! What an outrage!

    The human mind cannot divine. Mind – the ever-presence always knows and does not have to search to discover.

    Herbert Eustace said (Pg. 35 of Christian Science It’s “Clear Correct Teaching” and Complete Writings)
    “Analyze every word carefully, for only to the degree that it defines God to you does a word have value.”

    The spiritual meaning of the words would be:

    What is Divine? The Divine is the Divine.
    The Divine divines.
    What does the Divine divine?
    That which the Divine divines is his divination… manifestation.
    Spiritual man and the spiritual universe is the Divine’s divination.

    It’s OK for God, the Diviner to divine. That doesn’t break any laws.
    Man does not divine. He is the divination.
