do we fight something called matter?

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I don’t want to annoy anyone here, but I like to share my simple but uplifting thoughts. What is matter? It is mentioned all the time in our Christian Science literature, so that one might be tempted to think is is something real that we have to fight against.
What is Spirit? We are told we are spiritual. Does it mean spiritual persons or things are something invisible, like a ghost or a phantom, or like a thin wisp of mist? Is it matter that what we perceive with our corporeal senses?
Does it become “matter” if we can see, feel, touch, smell and hear it? Almost forgot taste.
I started to understand that everything I can be aware of, must Spirit and spiritual, even my elbow.
So when I see people, I try to see Spirit in manifestation. Only the thoughts of God’s heart, to be seen, felt, touched, etc. (Psalm 33:11)

“From the infinite elements of the one Mind emanate all form, color, quality, and quantity, and these are mental, both primarily and secondarily.” S&H 512.
I concluded that we are spiritual beings NOW, even while we experience (or dream) this body with all its biological functions, limitations and needs. God’s creation, Mind’s ideas, are not vague, indistinct, unclear, hazy or lacking definition. Eustace wrote: “Is the action of the stomach or liver something apart from Mind? You are conscious of it through communion with Mind.” But I may be wrong.
