Enable us to know

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Enable us to know, – as in heaven, so on earth, – God is omnipotent, supreme.” (S&H)
I once had the most difficult time obeying the First Commandment (and this is an ongoing process!) –really knowing God to be the one and only Power. And it took me awhile to realize this section of the Lord’s Prayer is helping all of us to do just that. I am to pray daily to feel and to acknowledge God’s supreme presence and power. And to pray and to know that God ENABLES us all to know Him! God supplies us all with “the power, ability and adequate means” (definition of enable) to understand and know and feel His Supremacy! And isn’t that wonderful?!

Thank you! I came across this passage (Misc. 328) “The ever present Christ, the spiritual idea, surveys the vale of the flesh from the summit of bliss, to burst the bubbles of earth with a breath of heaven.” Clarence Steves, CSB, wrote: “The bubbles of earth are personal sense, coming from the soap of mortal mind. Don’t let mortal mind soft soap us and blow more bubbles. Let the breath of heaven dispel them.”

I found this amusing as my computer screen saver generates big colorful bubbles! A playful reminder to watch my thinking! Get rid of personal sense of self and others! Burst the bubbles to see the reality.
