Fulfilling Our Mission Without Timidity……

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

SH 483 ….And Christian Science does honor God as no other theory honors Him, and it does this in the way of His appointing, by doing many wonderful works through the divine name and nature. One must fulfil one’s mission without timidity or dissimulation, for to be well done, the work must be done unselfishly.
    From Webster’s 1828:
Timidity:Fearfulness; want of courage or boldness to face danger; timorousness; habitual cowardice. timidity in one person may be a good trait of character, while in another it is a deep reproach.

Dissimulation:The act of dissembling; a hiding under a false appearance; a feigning; false pretension; hypocrisy. dissimulation may be simply concealment of the opinions, sentiments or purpose; but it includes also the assuming of a false or counterfeit appearance which conceals the real opinions or purpose.

We can only do this work through His name and nature to me means, by obeying His laws and working as His reflection. The thought of Oneness comes with this, that we can do nothing of ourselves but must do all things “through Christ which strengthens us.” The wonderful assurance of this is found in these verses we are often reminded of here:

I and my Father are one.. John 10:30
The Father that dwelleth in me He does the work… John 14:10
My Father has not left me alone…. John 8:29
