God made man satisfied

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

    This week’s lesson on Man brings to mind some time ago when attending a class in our church being given by Mrs. Evans where the discussion was when and how man is satisfied. At once Mrs. Evans slammed her hand on the desk and stated emphatically “God made man satisfied.” There is something about a short four word sentence that states a profound truth that leaves a lasting impression. We all know that there is so much put out in society that claims that we are not satisfied. But this is all false. If God made man in His likeness, pronounced all that He made to be good, and His work was finished, as the sacred scripture says, how could men be anything other than satisfied? Many times, I have stopped the insisting urge to be dissatisfied, and it does come, by simply stating that God made man satisfied, He made me and everyone satisfied. A man who delights to do God’s will could only be content. This truth has a healing influence. One of the many things it can do is dissolve hate. A man who knows that he is satisfied cannot hate. This would be an amazing blessing for mankind.
