God’s promises

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I am very grateful for the Weekly Bible Lessons that we have to work with; it was mentioned in a recent Roundtable that they include vital teachings, and each Lesson Sermon is a “Token of Divine Love” (from an article written in 1915.)

It struck me this week, how all the references are completely applicable to what is going on in our country and in the world at this very moment; and if we give heed we will certainly benefit as to what to do to solve and turn around the discord and dismay that we face right now.

As God is eternal, so are His promises. In the Bible Lesson for December 22, 2024, we have these promises from Psalms, Isaiah, II Chronicles, Job, and I Timothy:

    “He maketh wars to cease…”
“…I [God] will be exalted among the heathen…”
“…neither shall they learn war any more.”
“…man shall be humbled…the Lord alone shall be exalted…”
“…the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
When they sang and praised God, those that came against them
    were smitten [overwhelmed.]
Seek unto God; “He disappointeth the devices of the crafty…”
“He shall deliver thee…no evil shall touch thee.”
“…supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks
[should] be made for all men;”
“[God] will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the
    knowledge of the truth.”

There is never any true answer in human reasoning. Kingdoms rise and fall, but the kingdom of God, Who is the creator of the universe and everything and everyone in it, Christ’s government is an “everlasting kingdom.”
