“He proved what he taught.”

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“He proved what he taught. This is the Science of Christianity. Jesus proved the Principle, which heals the sick and casts out error, to be divine.” Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, page 473

“441 — WATCH that you do your part in bringing divine power into activity in this human sense. When Mrs. Eddy was confronted by a lawsuit in 1899, she wrote to a student: ‘Pray daily twice at least to divine Love to give you success in this case of libel, and then realize for yourselves that Love and Truth, and action on your part (for Truth does not work for you unless you work), will give you the victory.’… Our recognition of the human need, our knowledge of the operation of Truth, and our affirmations thereof, plus our detection and elimination of any deterrent lying in the path put divine power into operation. Jesus said, ‘My Father worketh hitherto and I work.’ Jesus’ work was the understanding of the utilization of divine power and his application of it to the human need;” 500 Watching Points by Gilbert Carpenter

This Lesson on Christ Jesus followed a strong Roundtable Sunday not to become slothful and neglect to keep oil in our lamps. To follow Jesus’ example we must eliminate “any deterrent lying in the path,” never a moment to drift from this work, cannot afford to be off guard, for ease, “retiring” from work or leaning on another to “put divine power into operation.” I am so grateful to the timely warning and blessings found “in working for God.”
