honesty

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“In the soil of an “honest and good heart” the seed must be sown; else it beareth not much fruit, for the swinish element in human nature uproots it.”

I lived a very dishonest life before arriving here and was in such denial that I did not even recognize it. In fact I considered myself pretty honest but I said yes when I meant no, contorted myself to meet others’ expectations, denied my feelings to keep the peace. I did not want to disappoint anyone and thought it was my job to fix others problems. I did not set out to be dishonest but not knowing how error operates kept me in the dark. In many ways I lived what some would call a honest life, following laws, rules and such. I lied more to myself, then in relationships and mostly to God. I am grateful to be here learning Biblical rules and Mrs. Eddy’s true Science of Christianity that extinguishes the thinking and behavior such as fear, pride, personal sense, behind dishonesty. In this place learning how to live a life of integrity that is bringing me closer to God.

What a blessing to have had last week’s lesson on honesty prepare us for this week’s lesson which includes parable of the sower. I see how honesty is starting with the spirit and the true substance of devotion. I see now how dishonesty is the devil’s tool to stay hidden. I am grateful to be learning how to truly uncover error so it can be destroyed. Thank you lesson writers.
