in the strength of the Lord

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    Last week our lesson had the line, “the lord is my strength and song and is become my salvation.” This week we have the line that reads,”I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD : I will make mention of thy righteousness, even of thine only.”

    Below are a few ways 1828 Webster’s defines Strength:

    2. Firmness; solidity or toughness,

    3. Power or vigor of any kind.

    5. that which supplies strength; security

    7. Spirit;

    14. That which supports; confidence.

    16. Soundness

    17. Vehemence;

    19. Fortification;

    This strength is from God not personal will, so we can not be put to confusion, receive with meekness the word, endure temptation, not be weary in well doing, faint not, walk and be led in the Spirit, stand fast in the liberty, obey the truth.

    I have a new appreciation for the 91st psalm for now I see that it is a prayer of strength in the Lord for He is my refuge and my fortress: he shall deliver thee from the snare, cover thee with his feathers, thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. I appreciate more the wonderful Bible stories of those who trusted in God for their strength and overcame challenges.
