Job, Christian Science Practitioner

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

Thank you for the powerful Bible lesson this week. It coincides with reading Herbert E. Rieke, C.S.B., 1949 Address entitled IMMORTALITY. He does an analysis of the Book of Job, and how it is the biography of you and me in the journey from sense to Soul.

“Job went into the Christian Science practice in earnest, and he started on three of the toughest cases–
Eliphaz, who some feel symbolizes the philosophical/college professor; Bildad, or should I say Reverend Bildad, the famous preacher; Dr. Zophar, the eminent physician and psychiatrist.”

Many have gotten acquainted with Elihu in Chapter 32, and have recognized his admonitions as those of good scientific Christianity.

“And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as he had before… After this lived Job 140 years and saw his sons, and his son’s sons, even four generations.”

Highly recommend Rieke’s Address published and available by THE BOOKMARK.

Thank you so much for recommending Rieke’s Address on Immortality where he does an analysis of Job. It is wonderful!!
The part of the story where Job prays for his friends before “…the Lord gave Job twice as he had before….” really stood out to me this week and how important it is to pray for our fellow man if we want to see the results of our prayers for ourselves.

Thank you lesson writers for this inspiring lesson! Gratefully appreciated
