Let us disrobe error.

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“We cannot build safely on false foundations. Truth makes a new creature, in whom old things pass away and “all things are become new.” Passions, selfishness, false appetites, hatred, fear, all sensuality, yield to spirituality, and the superabundance of being is on the side of God, good.
We cannot fill vessels already full. They must first be emptied. Let us disrobe error.
…The way to extract error from mortal mind is to pour in truth through flood-tides of Love. Christian perfection is won on no other basis.” from Science an Health by Mary Baker Eddy, page 201

One thing I found myself doing when assailed by negative thoughts was just denying the error, it then became just human mind trying to control error. The emphasis was on the problem. We do want to say no to these thoughts but not to leave it in the negative as I have been told by my practitioner here. Once I realized this, I began to more consistently affirming Truth. We are instructed that treatment should include the ratio of 10 affirmations to 1 denial and do this until you feel the allness of God. To keep at it. The focus on God destroys the mesmerism of error. I am so grateful that we are told to read the Bible, Science and Health and Proseworks each day so as to do as Jesus did when he faced temptation with, “It is written.” Making sure I was doing this has much better results.

“The utterance of truth is designed to rebuke and destroy error.” from Science an Health by Mary Baker Eddy, page 233

Read at the end of last Sunday’s Roundtable:
“Three years he went about doing good. He had for thirty years been preparing to heal and teach divinely; but his three-years mission was a marvel of glory: … This spiritual idea, or Christ, entered into the minutiæ of the life of the personal Jesus. It made him an honest man, a good carpenter, and a good man, before it could make him the glorified.” from Miscellaneous Writings by Mary Baker Eddy, page 162

    “Changed Natures
The students at this first association meeting needed to be changed in their natures in order to serve and love as did the Master. At this meeting, the power of Truth was so irresistible that the natures of these students were changed, and they gladly obeyed the command, and went forth to teach and to heal, and to establish the Christian Church.” From Address by Martha Wilcox, page 208
