“But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.”James 1:25
“So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.” James 2:12
The lessons I am learning at Plainfield make me appreciate liberty and the need to stand up to all that expresses tyranny and domination of the human will in whatever form it appears.
“Every part of Divine revelation has its use, in bringing the sinner to Christ for salvation, and in directing and encouraging him to walk at liberty, by the Spirit of adoption, according to the holy commands of God. And mark the distinctness, it is not for his deeds, that any man is blessed, but in his deed. It is not talking, but walking, that will bring us to heaven.” Matthew Henry
“It (gospel) is called the law of liberty, or freedom because it is a law producing freedom from the servitude of sinful passions and lusts.” Barnes Commentary
Liberty:(1828 Webster’s)
1. Freedom from restraint,
“In a positive respect, it consists in the possession of holiness, with the will and ability to do what is right and good. Such liberty is possible only in a renewed condition of soul, and cannot exist apart from godliness…. it is the gospel of Christ which bestows it in its fullness, in giving a full and clear knowledge of God.” Bible Study Tools
My post is about freedom from sin that is found in living Jesus’ teachings and the Christian Science that is correctly taught here. For so many years I tolerated, in my thinking, many beliefs that enslaved me to people pleasing behavior, human do goody habits. I tried to control that which is not mine to control and there was not God in it. I could not understand my anguish, frustration, and feeling victimized until I began to learn the spirit of living this Science that makes free. Practice rather that memorization.
“‘Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty’ in its fullest, highest, and widest sense….for without it, in a free country, ye may still be bondsmen; and…, ye may be slaves in soul. The text speaks of Spiritual liberty; and now I address the children of God. Spiritual liberty, brethren, you and I enjoy if we have “the Spirit of the Lord” within us.” by Charles Spurgeon
“’Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.’ Love and Truth make free, but evil and error lead into captivity.” Mary Baker Eddy(S. & H.)
John 8:36
36 “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
