"Man did eat angels’ food:"

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    “Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.” Psalm 78:25

    “Angels are pure thoughts from God, winged with Truth and Love, … Angels are God’s representatives. These upward-soaring beings never lead towards self, sin, or materiality, but guide to the divine Principle of all good, whither every real individuality, image, or likeness of God, gathers.” By Mary Baker Eddy from Science and Health, pages 298-299

    “ANGELS. God’s thoughts passing to man; spiritual intuitions, pure and perfect; the inspiration of goodness, purity, and immortality, counteracting all evil, sensuality, and mortality.” By Mary Baker Eddy from Science and Health, page 581

    Food: Something that sustains, nourishes and augments. (1828 Webster’s Dictionary)

    We were instructed during our last Roundtable to be content at heart, have gratitude and joy. We are continually warned about what we take into our consciousness and chew on. We have been greatly blessed with all the nourishment contained in our Bible, Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy and the extensive collection on this website and the tools in our classes to take in and live this Truth.

    I read an article the other day about hungering for God and if we aren’t hungry something is wrong. Perhaps we are finding ourselves filling up on other things and dulling our appetite for God. The writer points out that many try to snack their way through the day on “junk-food” activities and have no time to “feast” with God. Some may take God in small doses throughout the week hoping to “catch up” on their time with the Lord. We choose what we eat.

    What a beautiful thought to “eat angels’ food.” Thank you Lesson writers!

    Some items from the Blue Book as we digest our feast;

    p. 269 Digestion is harmonious action. Assimilation is unity of ideas. Nutrition is life.
    p. 196 Bread of Heaven: that which nourishes, and sustains.

    Thank you for these wonderful posts. I came across this inspirational passage in S&H this morning:

    “So Christian Science can be seen only as the clouds of corporeal sense roll away. Earth has little light or joy for mortals before Life is spiritually learned. Every agony of mortal error helps error to destroy error, and so aids the apprehension of immortal Truth. This is the new birth going on hourly, by which men may entertain angels, the true ideas of God, the spiritual sense of being.”
