Material basis yielding to metaphysical basis

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

    “Belief in a material basis, from which may be deduced all rationality, is slowly yielding to the idea of a metaphysical basis, looking away from matter to Mind as the cause of every effect.” S&H

    “Rationality: the quality or state of being agreeable to reason.” Doesn’t that sound like a slimy snake trying to lull us into some kind of hypnotic trance? “Don’t question or resist—matter is all quite rational and I can explain it all to you—just listen to me.” Yuk!

    But, “looking away from matter to Mind as the cause of every effect,” and not being so “agreeable to reason,” we find the truth of all existence—“unfolding spiritual ideas” of God!

    I love what Martha Wilcox says in her article “Body:” “It is the unfolding spiritual ideas and their identities, and not organs, which determine the outward and actual of my present so-called human body.” And this is the truth of all things. Material sense is yielding!

    God is and is the Creator of consciousness only. In “Oneness” by Bicknell Young it is explained very clearly that we must not accept the world as suggested to us by the media and what we think we know as reality. The consciousness which God IS and creates knows only perfection, no evil persons, places, things. We must be one with our Mind, and know only His “world.”.
