Mesmerism & animal magnetism defined

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I am very grateful for the Plainfield Lesson-Sermons. Without fail, when faithfully studied, each Lesson provides ever-expanding instruction applicable to any of life’s challenges. This week, Citation 7 from Science and Health stands out. I had never before noticed the difference between mesmerism and animal magnetism and how this difference reinforces the necessity to stand porter at the door of thought. If, at the outset we mentally or emotionally buy into the material picture, illusion, we either voluntarily or involuntarily open the door to animal magnetism which gives impetus to action. Staying watchful and tuned in to divine Mind, we are naturally protected from misguided actions.
