S & H, p. 428: 30-31: “The author has healed hopeless organic disease, and raised the dying to life and health through the understanding of God as the only Life.” (Lesson citation #3)
(1) “Dead Child restored (1870-1872) – Mrs. Eddy to Henry Robinson – One little child was put into my hands. I did not come soon enough. Utterly helpless, utterly prostrated, and the doctors said he was gone. The little arms hung down, and it looked limp as a corpse, no appearance of life. I could not feel the pulse. The mother was crying and said ‘He is dead; you have come too late.’ I said, ‘Go out a little while.’ She did and that little creature rose right up, yawned and rubbed his eyes. I set him down. He walked to the door and his mother took him. (Historical File: Henry Robinson)” – Mary Baker Eddy Christian Healer, p. 229
(2) “Mrs. Eddy told me she was called to treat a child. When she went in, the mother was holding it and thought it had passed on. Mrs. Eddy said, ‘Let me take the babe.’ She did and the mother went into the next room. In about ten minutes she put the child down and it walked toward the door. Mrs. Eddy opened the door and when the mother saw the child walking (it had never walked before) she screamed and the babe sat down, and Mrs. Eddy said, ‘I saw I had another patient on my hands.’ (Victoria H. Sargent reminiscences)”
(3) “Man run over by a heavy wagon restored (1875-1880) – [Mrs. Eddy] spoke more than once of a man who was run over at Lynn. She said she saw the accident from her window, and it seemed to sicken her. He was carried into the house and she was called down to see if she could do anything for him. She turned her back on him and lifted her thought to God, and the first thing she knew he was standing behind her, speaking as if he were awakening from a dream. He was healed instantly. (Adelaide Still reminiscences)” – Mary Baker Eddy Christian Healer, p. 237; also recorded in Harriet L. Betts reminiscences – Ibid, p. 237
(4) Calvin Frye (1888-1889): “Our aunt [Julia Bartlett] was present . . . . Miss Bartlett said that while Mrs. Eddy was living at 385 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, Mr. Calvin Frye suddenly passed on, and Mrs. Eddy raised him from the dead. Some time elapsed from the moment he passed on until Mrs. Eddy restored him to life. One of the students who witnessed this demonstration asked Mr. Frye what his experience was during the time that, to them he seemed to be dead. He replied that he was in the pantry eating pie. (Lottie Clark reminiscences)” – Ibid, p. 268-269
(5) Calvin Frye a 2nd time (1903): “It was my privilege to witness a healing at Pleasant View in 1903 which was the result of Mrs. Eddy’s own understanding of the truth. I always felt that at the time Mrs. Eddy actually restored Calvin Frye to life. My sister . . . . told me Calvin Frye was dead, said she had taken hold of him and his flesh was cold and stiff. . . . I heard [Mrs. Eddy] ask over and over again, ‘Calvin, do you hear me?’ It seemed to me that this went on for five minutes with no response on his part or sign of life. Then I heard him say very faintly, ‘Yes, Mother, I hear you’. . . . As my sister had left the hall, as far as I know I was the only one who witnessed this healing. (John Salchow reminiscences)” – Ibid, p. 276-277
