Only In Belief

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

SH 328 Understanding little about the divine Principle which saves and heals, mortals get rid of sin, sickness, and death only in belief. These errors are not thus really destroyed, and must therefore cling to mortals until, here or hereafter, they gain the true understanding of God in the Science which destroys human delusions about Him and reveals the grand realities of His allness.

This is a reminder that when healing takes places, in addition to our gratitude should we yearn to “gain the true understanding of God in the Science which destroys human delusions about Him and reveals the grand realities of His allness.” Since without that true understanding the errors are not “really destroyed,” the healing is only in belief, and is likely to reappear. This to me is saying watch out for the desire for quick healings just to get out of the in-harmony without the understanding that the error is a lie about God’s Allness to begin with! Yes we should expect quick healings, but it is better if with true understanding.
