Persons or races not responsible for deviltry

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

    I opened to this in the Eustace book today which brings further enlightenment to this week’s lesson, “It was not the Jew who originated the deviltry loosed upon Jesus, and it is not persons or races who are responsible for like deviltry today. All are victims of malicious mind, ‘the great dragon….called the Devil and Satan which deceiveth the whole world.’
    This thought is elucidated in Science and Health in the statement, ‘It is the animal instinct in mortals, which would impel them to devour each other and cast out devils through Beelzebub.’ And again, ‘The author is convinced that the accusations against Jesus of Nazareth and even his crucifixion were instigated by the criminal instinct here described.’” Eustace also explains it was the same malicious animal magnetism which caused the Jews to persecute and to crucify Jesus that also led to their own (the Jews) persecution during WWII. When we see error as neither person, place nor thing we are able to handle it effectively as an impersonal claim, a lie about God’s creation and so utterly destroy its seeming existence!
