Preserved my spirit

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    Job 10 : 12
“Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.”

    Barnes’ Notes on the Bible
“Thy visitation hath preserved my spirit – Thy constant care; thy watchful providence. The word rendered visitation (פקדה peqûddâh) means properly…the care that is manifested in looking after those who are enlisted; and then denotes care, vigilance, providence, custody, watch. The idea is, that God had watched over him and preserved him.”

    p. 103 : 31-32 S. & H.
“Life and being are of God.”

We hear a lot about the mind, body, soul or spirit movement. This Bible lesson shows us that all is found in God. I realized this week these terms mind, body, soul used this way is still just man trying different mental and material methods to care for himself. When I focus on myself and body it keeps the focus away from God and His precepts. Many years ago I got caught up in this alternative type of thought while searching for answers to my suffering. What I know now is for peace to be substantial and permanent it must be found in a true understanding of God and daily living His commands. I am grateful for all that is here to establish this clear understanding.

    Body by Mary Baker Eddy
“The term Mind and body I understand to mean God and man.”

Since I have been here at Plainfield the peace, balance, joy, and health I was searching for has been unfolding in my life. It is the Biblical teachings and correct understanding of Mrs. Eddy and her works that is bringing this about. Nothing else brought the deep and permanent change in my thinking and actions that was required to make these healing changes.

Some lines from our lesson this week stood out to me

“It is the spiritualization of thought and Christianization of daily life,..”

“Man, governed by immortal Mind, is always beautiful and grand. Each succeeding year unfolds wisdom, beauty, and holiness.”

One article found on this website has been helpful.
“…recognize that the Almighty is in the midst, controlling all your desires, emotions, thoughts, and functions.”
    God Proportions Man
    by Peter V. Ross

“Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee” Job 22
