Putting new wine into old bottles

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“No man putteth new wine into old bottles: else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred: but new wine must be put into new bottles.” When I first came to this church and received help from the practitioner here I was full of “old wine” – a lot of erroneous beliefs even about or maybe especially about Christian Science. It took me awhile to realize this and not to argue for the old ways. Then to have the humility to see and correct the error that was holding me in bondage. I had to admit I didn’t know it all and to humbly listen and obey. Until this was thoroughly done – all the “new wine,” all the fresh inspiration given to me by this practitioner had no room to enter my thought. It was a very good lesson and one I have never forgotten. Cleansing thought of the old ways is a continual process!
