“Question – What is substance?”

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    “Substance is that which is eternal and incapable of discord and decay. Truth, Life, and Love are substance, as the Scriptures use this word in Hebrews…” (S&H, Page 468: 16-24)

    Each day this week I have been working with Mrs. Eddy’s statement in this way. Truth is eternal and incapable of discord and decay. (Knowing it.) Life is eternal and incapable of discord and decay. (Knowing it.) Love is eternal and incapable of discord and decay. (Knowing it.)

    Then, as Mrs. Eddy continues, “Spirit, the synonym of Mind, Soul, or God, is the only real substance.”

    Spirit is the only real substance. Mind is the only real substance. Soul is the only real substance. Knowing these things has raised my thought into spiritual awareness, preparing me for the day. Just wanted to share in case this is helpful to others.
